Overview:  Hospital Emergency Response Teams (HERT) aims to provide authoritative training for hospital personnel in the emergency department, as well community-level medical service personnel, assisting them in times of disaster and emergency. This course follows my book and covers key aspects of emergency response capacity building and sustainment.  We will cover implementation issues, requirements, and timelines in establishing an internal HERT program, including emergency response team checklists. Topics covered will include, PPE donning and doffing guide, ambulatory and non-ambulatory decontamination setup and practical exercises.  This course is designed to help facilities design, implement and build upon the CDC guidance Capability 14: Responder Safety and Health.

Target Audience:  Hospitals, CERT members, emergency medicine professionals, first responders, security staff, community-level disaster planners, and public health and disaster managers.

Duration: Course options range from a half-day exercise for a mature  HERT to a four day course including train-the -trainer component.  Duration of the course is dependent upon the objectives of the client and experience of their existing HERT program.
