NIMS compliance means more than just referencing NIMS in documents.  Organizations should review the latest publication NIMS Implementation for Healthcare Organizations Guidance January 2015 put out by ASPR and HPP.  Organizations can use the 2015 guidance document to evaluate their own progress in achieving NIMS integration.

I’ve observed that many organizations at times are piecing together planning and training and as a result real progress in enhanced capability seems slow to evolve.
To help solve this I’m suggesting a series of three courses/services for clients based upon the 2015 publishing of the 2015 guidance. One key item is Objective 2: Ensure Federal Preparedness Awards support NIMS Implementation (in accordance with the eligibility and allowable use of the awards).
The following series of courses/services are designed to help institutionalize the Incident Command System (ICS) into organizations.  To be successful your personnel must be operationally proficient and able to implement the tool in based upon clear triggers with clear objectives.  Enhancing your personnel’s comfort level with the ICS will in turn strengthen your emergency management program.
By thoughtfully building out a training program that builds upon the previous the end result will be:
  • Your staff will have confidence in using the ICS to manage small and large events
  • Your organization will be NIMS compliant
  • You’ll meet your organization’s mission to your clientele at all times
